Thanks to everyone who sent in their feedback to us! The following changes are included in the July 15, 2016 Jazzit Fundamentals update:


 SC2 – Generic 9 column with subtotals

  • We have completely overhauled SC2 into a 9 column schedule, complete with six sections, running totals, and total balance transfers to either the Income Statement or Balance Sheet.

FSSCH21-30 – External schedule 21 to 30

  • We have expanded the number of schedules available in the financial statements to 30! These are added as external documents and incorporate directly into your financial statements.
    For a detailed guide on how to insert the additional schedules to your Resource Centre and client files, please read the instruction provided here

SCRATIOS – Key Performance Indicators

  • Added the option to program up to 5 periods for the graphs, charts, and tables
    Please note: The month heading can be switched on (off by default) in the schedule settings area. Also when the month heading is on, you can edit this field as desired (e.g. QTR 1... etc)

CP – Home Menu

  • Reduced the size and spacing of the diagnostics warnings in the Home Menu to use less screen space when displayed
  • Changed the background colors of the diagnostics warnings for better legibility
  • Added a “Completing update” message on the Home Menu when updating any module
  • Updated certain diagnostics warnings to make them more understandable and relevant to the financial statements

IS/IS2 – Income Statements

  • Added the option to include a page break above any section using right-click functionality

IU – Account Analysis

  • Added mapping for the Comprehensive income items (292.0001, 292.0002, 292.0003) to the Equity section of the template
  • Added back the comments columns to the right of the columns, with the option to hide, display only or display and print
    Please note: There are certain conditions which must be met for this functionality to display correctly. Firstly, there must be ATLEAST ONE amount column selected for the comments to print, and if too many columns are selected (13+) the comments will not be able to print

JZl1 – Letter to the lawyer

  • Added a section for disclosing of capital dividends declaration and payment

BS/BS2/BS3 – Balance Sheets

  • Added formatting options to the contingent liability/lease commitments section of the Balance Sheets together with the option to insert manual lines if needed

EL – Engagement letter

  • Audit, Review, Notice to Reader - Updated wording from the latest CPA CPEM July 2016 release

RL – Client’s Representation letter

  • Updated wording from the latest CPA CPEM July 2016 release

GS – GST/HST reconciliation (detailed)

  • Updated GST/HST rates for NL and NB to 15% effective from July 1, 2016
  • Updated GST/HST rates for PEI to 15% effective from October 1, 2016

GS1 – GST/HST reconciliation (simplified)

  • Updated GST/HST rates for NL and NB to 15% effective from July 1, 2016
  • Updated GST/HST rates for PEI to 15% effective from October 1, 2016

I1 – Client invoice

  • Updated GST/HST rates for NL and NB to 15% effective from July 1, 2016

Thanks to everyone who sent in their feedback to us! The following changes are included in the April 29, 2016 Jazzit Fundamentals update:


 

CP – Home Menu

  • The Home Menu has been updated to allow updating of a client file with a single click. When two or more templates are out of date in a client file, a “Complete all Admin updates” button will appear in the Home Menu. Clicking on this button will update all out of date templates

  • The Home Menu can now be locked into the freeze and follow you throughout the financial statements. Locking the Home Menu in the freeze allow you to access tab functionality throughout the financial statements and make changes without losing the place you were reviewing and seeing changes made in real time. (The only exception to this is the Column Settings on the 9 column financial statements and the Admin tab)

  • Double clicking on the client name in the Home Menu brings up a summary of the file. Some of the information included in this window include: entity structure, engagement type, the current net income as per the CaseWare trial balance, and the location of the file
  • The Home Menu has been updated to indicate which column setup the current client file is using, i.e. 2 or 9 column financial statements. This reference can be seen on the right side of the client name
  • Added a diagnostic which will warn the user when the financial statements have been set to display print lines only
  • Added a diagnostic which will warn the user when the financial statements identifier has been changed from the default “FS”
  • The ‘Save & Exit’ button’s tooltip now displays the date and time of when the file was last saved

 

K8 – Financial Instruments

  • (Option 1) The currency risk section of the Financial Instruments note now features a table to show amounts in foreign currency together with a paragraph afterwards to explain any details

 

RL – Client representation letter

  • The letter now has the ability to switch the signatures lines ON/OFF (in accordance with the changes made to sample letter CPEM A4.1). This setting can be found under the letter options settings

 

SCMGTR – Management’s Responsibility (PSAB)

  • Update the wording if the client structure is set to PSAB

 

IS2 – 9 column Income Statement (PSAB)

  • The budget column in the Statement of Changes in Net Financial Assets will no longer need to be balanced if there is no budget column in the Balance Sheet

  • The budget column in the Statement of Changes in Accumulated Surplus can now be turned ON/OFF if there is no budget column in the Balance Sheet

K7 – Share Capital

  • (Default) Subtotals can now be added to the ‘Issued’ and ‘Share presented under liabilities’ tables

KE – Long term investments

  • (Option 3) Added the option for subheadings and subtotals in the 5 existing sections
  • (Option 3) Also added option to specify entity (default for section and/or on individual lines)

 

GS - GST/HST reconciliation detailed working paper

  • Added the +/- button to linked lines in both the Revenue and Expense areas

Merging of farming modules

  • We have merged certain farming templates together to be seamless across regular and farming files This change does not require any additional effort on your part besides the regular update process
    Modules affected are:
    • IS – 2 column Income Statement
    • IS2 – 9 column Income Statement
    • GS – GST/HST reconciliation detailed working paper
    • IU – Account Analysis working paper
    • JZ5YRIS – 5 period Income Statement with %

CP – Home Menu

  • Updated the 'Structure' dropdown to include the option for PSAB. When selecting this option, the Engagement Report, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement, are automatically set to the correct structure for the preparation and presentation of PSAB financial statements. The Statement of Changes in Net Financial Assets is also available when PSAB is selected.


  • NOTE: This option is only available for the 9 column statements

TC – Table of Contents

  • Updated to support new PSAB statements and functionality. This module MUST be updated in your financial statements to use the Statement of Changes in Net Financial Assets

BS2 – 9 col Balance Sheet (PSAB)

  • Tangible capital assets, inventories, and prepaid expenses have been moved to the Non-Financial Assets section and adjusted rounding accordingly

RP – Engagement Report (PSAB)

  • Added PSAB as an accounting standard

IS2 - 9 Column Income Statement (PSAB)

  • Added the Accumulated Surplus reconciliation

          NOTE: The accumulated surplus (deficit) can either be shown at the bottom of the Statement of Operations, on a separate page, or turned off completely.

  • Added the Statement of Changes in Accumulated Surplus (Deficit) with functionality for prior period adjustments

  • Added the Statement of Changes in Net Financial Assets (Debt)

IS/IS2 – 2 and 9 column Income Statements

  • Added Statement of Partners' Capital Format C allowing opening balance and allocations (Format D in 9 column statements and Format C in 2 column statements)

  • Statement of Partners' Capital Format A - Added a column to allow allocation for partners' income by units instead of percentage

CA/CB/IA – Property, plant and Equipment/Intangible Assets working papers

  • Added a new group at the bottom of the working paper which can pull total balances from other external CaseWare file entities in a consolidation

K4 – Property, plant and equipment notes

  • Notes can now pull balances from other external entities in the consolidated group

  • Added an opening input paragraph to the note

KD – Marketable Securities note

  • Linked to WP and Option 2 - Notes can now pull balances from other external entities in the consolidated group

SC5 – Property, plant and equipment schedules

  • Schedule can now be linked to amounts from other entities in the consolidated group, along with other minor superficial fixes and changes

IU – Account analysis

  • Added option to program the 5 available periods in the template options area

  • New functionality including rounding warnings, rounding to specific lines using right-click functionality, and switching header lines on/off

MS - JZMW - Market securities working papers

  • Working papers will no longer accept a disposal if number of units sold causes the ending balance to be negative

YC – Year-end checklist

  • Added the previously only available Notice to Reader option for custom "Providing client" wording to Audits and Reviews

RL – Representation letter

  • Added the previously only available Notice to Reader option for custom "Providing client" wording to Audits and Reviews (as above)

K5/KG/K9/KV – Debt notes

  • Added + and - buttons for note linked to trial balance and spacing options

KO – Generic 2 column notes

  • 2K - Added + and - buttons for note linked to trial balance

EL – Engagement letter

  • Adjusted the opening paragraph to not refer to any accounting standards when only preparing a T2

SCRATIOS – Key Performance Indicators

  • This module is now known as the Key Performance Indicators A new “Income Statement summary” table has been added to the available ratios

  • Added a ratio for Working Capital ($) and Earnings before interest and tax ($)

  • All ratios now support the ability to display as graphs, and can be shown as combinations of graph and data, graph only, or data only

  •  Each graph has its own page break option for better control over layout

  • Graph fonts can be either set to Arial or Times New Roman

  • NOTE: In order to take advantage of this new functionality, the SC Schedules Menu will also need to be updated

 

 

 IU – Account Analysis

  • The template has been redesigned for better internal use and external presentation.

  • View the template as either a “working paper” or “client version”. While in “working paper” view all the information you can expect to put into a working paper, such as mapping references, annotations, document sign-off and more, are automatically set to print. When set to “client version”, the previously mentioned information is automatically set to skip allowing for a cleaner presentation ready to be handed to your clients.

  • Support for up to 5 years with dollar and percent variances, together with vertical dividers between the years.

  • Ability to print in either legal or letter, and in landscape or portrait (NOTE: a limit of 6 columns is recommended in portrait/letter mode and 10 columns in landscape/letter mode, any more will require a combination of landscape and legal to be used).

  • Line items have been pre-populated with mapping numbers for the Balance Sheet and Income Statement sections

  • Columns for link numbers, annotations, and working paper references can be turned on/off. Also, vertical dividers between year columns can be turned on/off
